let’s explain what is a sewing machine?
A Sewing
Machine is a machine used to stitch fabric and other materials together with
thread. The machine was introduced in First Industrial Revolution as to decrease
the amount of manual work in clothing industries.
Sewing Machine
had a vast Social Impact on the life of women. In Earlier times, women were subjugated
to household works only. But after introduction of sewing machines, women were
easily making money using sewing works. They started working in the Industries
& Factories to make certain amount of money for their family.
Those women
which spent most of their time in household work, now with the help of sewing
machines work more and earn more which leads to the raise in overall family
income. Not only women, but many other industries were in demand .Machines
helped in the reduction of man power as it took less time to stitch a dress or
a piece of cloth. As new machinery was introduced, it could have both negative
and positive impact.

advancement of technology, daily new type of machinery is being introduced in
the market. In today’s time machinery is overcoming man power in various fields.

industries as well. Metal industry was benefited as they were the providers of
machinery parts. Cotton production was extended to those areas where it hadn’t been
previously farmed. Not just for the clothing production, sewing machines became
an important part in the manufacturing of curtains and towels, toys, books etc.
There are
such sewing machines which are not purely human-driven such as
